1. Angkor Wat Temple

It is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on December 14, 1992, and it is an ancient city located in the northern province of Cambodia which is Siem Reap. 3. Sambor Prei Kuk

This temple is an archaeological site in Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia, that was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site on July 8, 2017. It served as the capital of the Chenla Empire, which ruled in the late sixth and early seventh century AD. The complex contains over a hundred temples, 10 of which are octagonal and one-of-a-kind in South-East Asia. The art and architecture that arose here became models for the rest of the region, laying the groundwork for the distinct Khmer style of the Angkor period. The temple zone of Sambor Prei Kuk has been recognized as Ishanapura, the Chenla Empire’s capital. The property reflects the Hindu Hariharan’s introduction of technological and spiritual principles, as well as the resulting convergence of these with animist and Buddhist elements that produced the unique Sambor Prei Kuk artistic style, which later heralded the Khmer style developed in Angkor ¹. The site is also known as “the temple in the richness of the forest” in Khmer language.

4. Koh Ker Temple

It is a historic temple complex in Cambodia’s Preah Vihear Province. It was constructed during the reign of King Jayavarman IV in the 10th century AD and briefly served as the capital of the Khmer Empire. The temple complex is located in a remote, poorly populated jungle region around 120 kilometers from Siem Reap and the historic site of Angkor. The most important temple complex is Prasat Thom/Prang, a twin sanctuary with a linear plan rather than a concentric one like most Khmer king temples. The 36-meter-high seven-tiered pyramid, which most likely served as Jayavarman IV’s state temple, is unparalleled. The Koh Ker community has established a basic wooden community rest house in the village for travelers to stay in. Koh Ker temple was also just recently got listed into the UNESCO site on 17 September 2023 and become the Cambodian Pyramid which amazed many visitors while traveling there.
