Stop At: Angkor Wat
We start with an early-morning departure from your hotel (4.30 to 4.45 am, depending on the season) to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat. After the sun rises, you and your guide can go around the temple grounds and creep past the world’s longest length of bas-relief carvings.
Stop At: Ta Promh Temple
After finishing the sunrise at Angkor Wat, you’ll have a short break for breakfast at the local restaurant before continuing to visit Ta Prohm, one of Cambodia’s most visited tourist destinations. This temple is well-known for its unique “jungle temple” location. The walls and pillars of the temple have been covered in tree roots, and in some areas, the roots of the trees have even grown through the roofs of the structure.
Stop At: The Victory Gate of Angkor Thom
One of the five gates through which the ancient city of Angkor Thom can be entered is the Victory Gate. They are constructed of laterite and sandstone, and bas-reliefs representing gods, devils, and other mythical beings are used to embellish them. Hindu mythology’s Churning of the Sea of Milk is depicted in bas-reliefs on the entrance itself.
Stop At: Bayon
Bayon Temple has become famous for its enormous stone faces that are etched on the temple’s towers. Bayon stands in the heart of Angkor Thom, the Khmer Empire’s capital city. The temple’s exterior wall is ornamented with bas-reliefs that show scenes from both Hindu and Buddhist epics.
Return:
After visiting those amazing temples, relax and reflect on your temple adventure as your guide drops you back at your hotel.
