Itinerary
Stop At: Angkor Wat
We start with an early-morning departure from your hotel (4.30 to 4.45 am, depending on the season) to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat. After the sun rises, you and your guide can go around the temple grounds and creep past the world’s longest length of bas-relief carvings.
Pass By: South Gate of Angkor Thom City
One of the five gates through which the ancient city of Angkor Thom can be entered is the South Gate. The gates, which are positioned in the city’s four cardinal directions, share a similar appearance. They are constructed of laterite and sandstone, and bas-reliefs representing gods, devils, and other mythical beings are used to embellish them. Hindu mythology’s Churning of the Sea of Milk is depicted in bas-reliefs on the entrance itself. Of the five gates, the South Gate has been conserved the best. As the primary point of entry for tourists into the city, it is also the most well-known.
Stop At: Bayon Temple, Angkor Thom.
The Bayon has become famous for its enormous stone faces that are etched on the temple’s towers. The Bayon stands in the heart of Angkor Thom, the Khmer Empire’s capital city. There is a wall and a moat around the temple. The temple’s exterior wall is ornamented with bas-reliefs that show scenes from both Hindu and Buddhist epics.
Pass By: Terrace of the Elephants, Angkor .
In the northern part of Angkor Thom, close to the Bayon Temple, you can find the terrace. The Angkor Archaeological Park’s most visited tourist destination is this one. Its 350-meter length and 2.5-meter height make up the terrace. Elephants, garudas, lions, and dancers are just a few of the sculptures that cover this structure composed of sandstone and laterite. In addition to marching, rearing up, and kneeling, the elephants are depicted in a variety of other positions. Their mahouts—the elephant trainers—are frequently with them.
Stop At: Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor Archaeological Park,
One of Cambodia’s most visited tourist destinations, Ta Prohm Temple is well-known for its unique “jungle temple” location. A forest of trees has developed around the temple’s ruins, which are located about 1.5 kilometers east of Angkor Thom. The temple is surrounded by trees and jungle roots that have developed through the years, giving the area a distinct and eerie feel. The walls and pillars of the temple have been covered in tree roots, and in some areas, the roots of the trees have even grown through the roofs of the structures. Ta Prohm is now one of the most well-liked tourist spots in Cambodia as a result of the “timeless” and “mysterious” feeling this has given it.
